Summary Plan Description

Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit

NOTICE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE
WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA TEAMSTERS AND EMPLOYERS PENSION FUND
CONCERNING BENEFIT IMPROVEMENTS

Please be advised that the Trustees of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters and Employers Pension Fund ("Pension Fund"), on September 7, 2001, approved the benefit improvement summarized below for Participants in the Pension Fund.

The Qualified Joint And Survivor Benefit
Will Include The Qualified Joint And 75%
Survivor Benefit.

The Trustees took action to amend the Pension Plan to provide, in addition to the Qualified Joint and 50% and 100% Survivor Benefits, a Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit available to all Participants who are married at the date of retirement and are eligible, and retire, on or after January 1, 2002.

Under the current Qualified Joint and Survivor Benefit, a Participant receives, for as long as the Participant lives, a monthly benefit upon retirement, but after the Participant's death 50% or 100% of the Participant's benefit, depending upon the option elected, is then paid to the Participant's spouse for the rest of his or her life.

The Pension Fund will provide a third survivor option for any Participant who is married, and is eligible for, and retires, on or after January 1, 2002. Under the new survivor option, known as the Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit, upon the death of the Participant the surviving spouse will receive 75% of the Participant's benefit for as long as the spouse lives. Upon election of the Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit, the Participant's monthly benefit will be actuarially reduced based on the Participant's age and the spouse's age at the date of retirement.

Example

Assume that a Participant retires at age 60 and is eligible to receive the monthly Normal Retirement Benefit of $1,000. The spouse's age at the Participant's retirement date is 59. Under the Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit, the Participant's monthly benefit of $1,000 will be reduced to $954.22, and upon the Participant's death the spouse will receive 75% of that benefit, or $715.66, each month for the rest of his or her life.

At the time of the filing of the application for benefits, the Participant will receive from the Pension Fund Office an Option Letter explaining the benefit alternatives available with the 50%, 75% and 100% Qualified Joint and Survivor Benefits.

If you have any questions concerning the Qualified Joint and 75% Survivor Benefit, please contact the Trustees of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters and Employers Pension Fund, at the Pension Fund Office, located at 49 Auto Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, toll free phone number at 800-362-4201.
