NOTICE TO CONTRIBUTING EMPLOYERS IN THE
WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA TEAMSTERS AND EMPLOYERS PENSION FUND
CONCERNING CONTRIBUTIONS FOR EMPLOYEES
WHILE IN MILITARY SERVICE
The Trustees of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters and Employers Pension
Fund ("Plan") hereby remind the Contributing Employers to the
Plan that contributions are required to be paid to the Plan for covered
employees who are serving in military service.
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act ("USERRA")
requires that employers make contributions to a pension plan for an employee
in military service, at the weekly contribution rate at which the employer
would have made as if the employee had not entered the military service.
Pursuant to USERRA, the Plan provides that a Participant who is employed
and covered under the Plan, and is then called to military service during
the time of war or a national emergency or is drafted, and is subsequently
reemployed by a Contributing Employer following separation from the military
service, will be granted future credited service (contributory service)
with the Plan for the period of the military service. The future credited
service earned during the period of such military service will be utilized
both in determining vesting and the calculation of pension benefits.
If you have any questions concerning the requirement to make contributions
to the Plan for employees in military service, please contact the Trustees
of the Western Pennsylvania Teamsters and Employers Pension Fund, at the
Plan Office, located at 900 Parish Street, Suite 101, Pittsburgh, PA 15220, (800)
362-4201.
